What is "Fee Only Financial Planning," and why is it important?

Adam Leone is a Wealth Manager at Modera Wealth Management, LLC.  His main responsibilities include helping clients develop their financial plan, implementing wealth management strategies and managing clients’ investment portfolios.  He has extensive experience working in all areas of financial planning, including retirement planning, estate planning, tax planning and risk management.  He also works with a number of nonprofit organizations and trusts on portfolio design and implementation.
In addition to working with clients, Adam manages the firm’s rebalancing processes, acting as a key liaison between the Operations and Wealth Management Departments, and is a member of the firm’s Financial Planning Committee. Prior to joining Modera, Adam was a consultant with IBM Business Consulting Services.  He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University and holds both the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designations.  He also is a Registered Financial Advisor of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). 
Adam has been featured in several articles on a variety of wealth management topics such as Roth IRA conversions, cost basis legislation and socially responsible investing for publications such as New York Daily News, The Journal of Financial Planning, and He has been a featured speaker at professional conferences and consumer organizations, including the Financial Planning Association where he presented an educational webinar for the “Techniques for Presenting a Financial Plan.”  In 2011, Adam was recognized as a FIVE STAR Wealth Manager through New Jersey Monthly Magazine.
Outside of the office, Adam volunteers in Kiplinger's Retirement Hotline, a program that offers thousands of callers free, one-on-one financial advice on how to manage and invest their money, and as a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Morris, Bergen and Passaic Counties.
