Fee-Only & Fiduciary
The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is the country's leading association of fee-only and fiduciary financial planners.
Chris Hansen is a Cincinnati, OH fee only financial planner serving clients across the country. Personal Choice Financial Advisors specializes in providing objective financial planning to help clients build, manage, grow, and protect their assets through life's transitions. Chris Hansen is a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional.
I am a Fee-Only CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ CFP® who is passionate about two seemingly unrelated niches; financial planning for doctors (particularly newly graduated medical doctors) and retirement planning for Procter & Gamble employees and retirees.
How would one planner have two diverse areas of expertise? The answer is simple. I spent 10 years at Procter & Gamble and my son graduated from the University of Cincinnati Medical School in 2016.
I left Procter & Gamble and started my Fee-Only Financial Advisory firm because I recognized that P&G employees and retirees had specific needs that could be best served through a fiduciary relationship with an capable advisor. In that vein, I earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation in order to better meet my client's complex needs. I have been serving Procter & Gamble employees, retirees and their families for almost 25 years. I have recently created the website www.personalchoicefinancial.com. There I will post many of the Proctor & Gamble relevant financial planning techniques that I have employed over the years.
In 2016, my son graduated from the University of Cincinnati Medical School and headed to Ann Arbor, Michigan to become a Neurologist. I have been working with my him and some of his fellow graduates on their unique medical financial related issues. Most of them have substantial student loan debt and are eager to get their lives started but are unsure of how to proceed. Many are planning marriages, thinking about having children and wondering about buying their first house. As I help my son and his fellow doctors work through their issues, I will share them on my site www.FinancialRounds.com. I am also available for individual planning and consultation.
Why would you listen to me? I am an ex Engineer who became a Certified Financial Planner™, and I love solving problems. I am a Fee-Only Planner, which means I don't sell any products. My intention is to share my advice and experience on my websites. Why am I giving this advice away for free? I am surprised at lack of good information that is freely available. Most of the information I have found is either incomplete or just plain wrong. The rest of the information is a thinly veiled attempt to sell commissioned products or to monitize a website. For many of you, the information I share here will be sufficient for you to make your own financial decisions. I will not hold back any information. Please keep in mind, I am not an English major, I am an ex Engineer. Also, it is difficult to anticipate everybody's individual circumstances and to clearly communicate to so many different people. After all, you didn't get where you are by reading a textbook, you're not going to become a financial expert by reading these websites. What am I selling? The only thing I sell is my advice. I proudly act as a fiduciary on my clients' behalf. This means that I have a legal obligation to put my clients' interests before my own. Many people are going to want more help or more tailored information. I encourage you to seek out a Fee-Only, Certified Financial Planner™. If you would like to engage me as your financial planner, please visit my services page. Again, the goal of this site is to share with you the information you need to make informed financial decisions. I hope these sites are able to help many more people than I have the time to meet with personally.
After 10 years as a Chemical Engineer with Procter & Gamble, Chris Hansen engaged his entrepreneurial spirit and desire to personally advise people as they journey through life to financial success. He started a Fee Only Financial Advisory firm that gave people an alternative to commission based money managers. Chris recognized that P&G employees and retirees had specific needs that could be better served through a fiduciary relationship with an actual advisor instead of a commissioned salesperson. in 1996, Chris earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation in order to better meet his client's complex needs. He drew from his experience as a Procter & Gamble employee and financial planner the ability to answer many questions beyond just investments.
In 2002 John Britton joined with Chris and the firm became Personal Choice Financial Advisors, LLC. John brought 20+ years of experience with both P&G clients, local small businesses and other individuals.
Sharon Miller, CFP® joined with Chris and John in 2002. Her experience over the last 20+ years in the financial planning industry, specifically client services, has provided much needed back office support to the team. Sharon earned her CFP® designation in 1989.
