Fee-Only & Fiduciary
The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is the country's leading association of fee-only and fiduciary financial planners.
Denise Downey is a Fee-Only Financial Planner serving her local community of Spokane, WA and clients across the country. Financial Trex specializes in providing objective financial planning to help clients build, manage, grow, and protect their assets through life's transitions. Denise Downey is a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional.
I spent my entire 15-year career inside the financial services industry: working on the trading floor of the Chicago Stock Exchange, managing back-office support teams, and serving as a financial planner for high-net-worth individuals.
In 2015, I decided to leave my full time job as a financial planner. I loved my career, but I wasn't comfortable letting my high-pressure work environment pull me away from my family.
I decided to spend more time with my children. During this time, our family moved to Spokane, Washington. I fell in love with the great outdoors and became an avid hiker.
As a stay-at-home mother, I reflected on a different side of the finance world. I realized that many people are completely shut out of the infrastructure that could completely reshape their financial journeys.
In 2016, I returned to financial services to start Financial Trex. My goal is to provide everyday people the top-level advice that is usually reserved for multimillionaires.
These days, when I'm not hiking with my kids, I am helping people learn they can achieve financial success on their own terms.
As a Certified Financial Planner™, I love helping people figure out how to achieve their financial goals.
In order to stay simple and transparent, Financial Trex operates as a fee-only firm. This means I earn an income based on the services I provide for you and not from selling you financial products you don't need.
This is a different approach than what you would find at larger financial institutions where their financial planners are paid on commission and driven by sales. Many of my clients have tried this traditional route and found it didn't work for them.
My focus on services, rather than commission, allows me to concentrate my energies on a small group of clients who I work with year in and year out.
I work with clients nationwide via phone, email, Skype, and Google Hangouts (or in person if you are in the Spokane area). My approach allows for flexibility to chat with clients whenever it's convenient for them.
