Fee-Only & Fiduciary
The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is the country's leading association of fee-only and fiduciary financial planners.
Eve has 30 years of investment experience; she worked as an equities analyst and portfolio manager in NY, Europe and Asia before opening Kaplan Financial Advisors 13 years ago.
Eve brings clarity, objectivity and financial direction to women and couples. A former college teacher, she excels at providing informed, objective solutions to individuals and couples faced with important financial decisions.
Eve is committed to the benefits of fee-only financial planning. Eve's parents were divorced when she was a teenager - resulting in years of turmoil that had a long-lasting impact on her family. It's possible divorce could have been avoided if objective, constructive financial advice was at hand (note: money issues are one of the biggest reasons couples divorce). Unfortunately, objective financial planning didn't exist in the 1970s - advice centered around insurance sales, banking services and little else.
Eve received a BA from Brandeis University and a MA, ABD (PhD Candidate) from Harvard University. She enjoyed a successful international investment career in New York, Tokyo, Singapore and Rotterdam (1984-2001). As a Senior Portfolio Manager in the Netherlands, Eve managed nearly $1 billion in international equities. Eve speaks Japanese and Dutch, and is conversant in several other languages.
Eve became a Certified Financial Planner ® Practitioner in 2004. She combines precision analytics with an approachable, inclusive style. This works well with many clients - one person may need/like a technical approach to planning but others may feel lost. Eve's approach bridges the two styles; this helps clients who feel unsure about financial issues, but seek guidance from a knowledgeable professional who won't snow them under with excessive techno-talk.
Eve also works frequently with widowed women who've been thrown into a state of confusion and grief.
With 3 decades of professional investment experience, Eve is well-equipped to help her clients navigate uncertain and choppy markets. Eve and her “best in class” team orchestrate comprehensive planning solutions so her clients have the highest probability of achieving their goals.
Eve Kaplan’s memberships and affiliations include:
- Certified Financial Planner(R) Practitioner since 2004.
- The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (napfa.org)
- NAPFA upholds the highest Fiduciary standards in financial planning.
- members are required to complete at least 60 hours of Continuing Education every 2 years - double the minimum requirement by the Certified Financial Planner board.
We undertake many services for many individuals but our biggest single goal is helping clients minimize the risk of outliving their assets. Eve works closely with clients -- and other relevant professionals (as needed) -- to craft tailored investment/insurance/tax/estate planning strategies without product sales or split commissions. Sometimes clients have estate planning, insurance and/or complex tax issues; Eve coordinates work in these areas to make sure there are no missing gaps in strategy.
If products (e.g. insurance) are needed, we utilize trusted professionals who won't sell our clients down the river. We have 30+ years investment experience; we utilize high-quality mutual funds, including Dimensional Fund Advisors, to diversify/reduce investment risk. We utilize high-end tax minimization software tools to help our clients safe money.
