Jon Randolph Green, President of Encompass Advisors, a Fee Only Registered Investment Advisor specializing in Retirement Income Planning, is an Attorney, Certified Financial Planner, a Certified Public Accountant, an AICPA Personal Financial Specialist and an Accredited Asset Management Specialist.
Jon is a member of The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Personal Financial Planning section of the AICPA.
A native of Washington, DC, Jon received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (magna cum laude), from the University of Maryland in 1969, and a Master of Business Administration in Finance (summa cum laude), from Indiana University in 1975.  He also received a Doctor of Jurisprudence Law Degree (cum laude), from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1979.  Jon is a member of the Bar of the State of Indiana.
Jon has more than 35 years of experience in finance and investments.  He was Adjunct Professor of Finance and Investments at Brevard College, in Brevard, North Carolina and he was a member of the faculty at both the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University, where he taught accounting and finance.  He also taught at Purdue University and the University of Colorado.
Jon began his career in 1969 as an auditor with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Washington, DC, and then became Treasurer of the National Academy of Public Administration before attending graduate business school and law school.
Jon was President and CEO of Applied Earth Technologies, a manufacturer of an environmental alternative to the Polystyrene Peanut, before it was sold to an international paper company.  He was the Managing Director of International Equisource, Ltd., an advisor to domestic and international investors interested in acquiring and restructuring operating businesses. Jon was also a consultant to Standard Oil of Indiana (Chairman, Working Capital Finance Committee) and the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (Division of Financial Management).
Jon held senior management positions in New York City with a major NYSE financial services firm.  As such, he participated in numerous syndicated public and private offerings in the form of IPO’s, re-capitalizations, mergers, and acquisitions.  He advised various banks, including Barclays Bank, PLC, Dai Ichi Bank, Ltd., and IBJ (Industrial Bank of Japan), as to structuring their credit facilities in various securities offerings.  He was also a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of an energy company listed on the American Stock Exchange, and a private holding company located in Chicago, IL.
Jon has published articles on business and finance for the American Accounting Association. He has served on various committees as a member of the Indiana State Bar, American Bar Association, the AICPA, and both the Financial and Tax Executives Institutes. Jon and his wife, Susan, live on 10 acres in Sweetwater Farms, and plan to live in Brevard for the rest of their lives.
