What is "Fee Only Financial Planning," and why is it important?

Joseph Call received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University in 1974. He received the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from the College of Financial Planning in 1986. In 1998 he received the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) accreditation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); and was honored by the AICPA for having received the highest score in the nation on the June 1998 PFS Qualifying Examination.

Joe has been active in professional and community affairs throughout his career. He's served as President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Idaho Society of CPAs, and on many state and national professional committees and task forces, including three years on the AICPA Continuing Professional Education Board of Management and three years on the AICPA Personal Financial Planning Executive Committee. In addition to memberships in accounting professional organizations, he is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the leading organization in the United States for fee-only advisors.

His community involvement has included serving on the boards of directors of the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce (and as its President), Rexburg Chamber of Commerce, Idaho Falls Symphony Society, Eastern Idaho Sailing Association and Bonneville County Crimestoppers. He's also served on the Ricks College Business Advisory Board, Eastern Idaho Technical College Foundation Board, and the Development Workshop Financial Advisory Board. He is active in church service in his local congregation. He and his wife, Nola, currently serve on the President’s Advancement Council of BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho.

Joe has spoken at various state, regional and national professional conferences and training programs. He's written financial articles for the Idaho Falls Post Register, a local newspaper. He and his wife, Nola, have been joyously married for over thirty years and have six children, ages 38 to 19, and twelve grandchildren. They enjoy music, cooking, theater, traveling, and, of course, sailing.
