Kathleen Hartman, CFA, CFP®, co-founded Greenleaf Financial Group to provide professional financial planning and investment management for individuals and couples seeking knowledgeable advice, service excellence, and integrity.
As a Chartered Financial Analyst professional and Certified Financial Planner practitioner, Kathleen has earned the industry’s two most prestigious designations. She combines her expertise with more than a decade of investment management experience.
Kathleen began her financial-services career as a mutual-fund analyst at Morningstar, Inc., in 1993.  She was widely quoted for her knowledge of mutual-fund styles and strategies, with comments in The Wall St. Journal, The Chicago Sun-Times, Smart Money, Kiplinger’s, Money, and many more publications.
She subsequently launched the “Investing for Retirement” column on Morningstar.com, worked as the Retirement Planning Editor for MorningstarAdvisor.com and as a regional director for Morningstar Investment Services, the company’s investment management division with more than $3 billion in assets under management.
Kathleen has counseled high-net-worth individuals and company executives as a financial planner. She has also served as an investment consultant for institutional investors, including pensions, foundations, and retirement plans, with Chicago-based, independent consulting firm Ennis, Knupp & Associates.
Kathleen holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree from the University of Chicago. She and her husband live in Indianapolis with their rescued English mastiffs.  She enjoys many pursuits, including birding, naturescaping, microbreweries, early American art, and Monday Night Football.
