What is "Fee Only Financial Planning," and why is it important?

Martha is dedicated to delivering professional-level, fee-only advice while acting as an advocate for her clients.  Her passion is helping people make the transition from full time work to retirement, a second act or encore career—today’s new trend for active people age 50 and over.  This new lifestyle may include more leisure, part-time work, independent consulting, not-for-profit work, and community service, or any other path they choose.  Planning can help near-retirees and post-retirees manage their finances to navigate a gradual shift into and through retirement–helpful for those who work to remain engaged, mentally, physically and socially and not solely for financial benefits.  Clients benefit from her 20-plus years of experience advising on financial planning, taxes and investments to help make smart money decisions.  She also has specialized experience working with trust and estate fiduciaries, and beneficiaries to address administration, distribution and tax issues unique to these pass-thru entities.

Martha enjoys speaking to groups for educational and pro-bono causes and has addressed community groups, professional associations and donors.  She makes herself available to talk about planning for career transitions, active retirements, income taxes, retirement planning and other topics focused on their interests.

Martha is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner™ professional and holds an MBA from Pace University.  Her extensive financial background includes experience at a Princeton, NJ investment advisory firm, managing her own tax and financial planning practice and as a manager at a CPA firm serving high net worth individuals, families and trustees.  She began her career at Coopers & Lybrand, one of the predecessors to Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
