What is "Fee Only Financial Planning," and why is it important?

Scott Neal is a Fee Only Financial planner living in Lexington, KY but serving clients in many remote locations.  Scott Neal is a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor who holds certifications as a Certified Financial Planner CFP, Certfied Public Accountant CPA, and Certified Exit Planning Advisor CEPA. 

After serving 4 years as an Army Officer, he started his career with Deloitte in 1980 and has been providing fee-only professional services since then.  He has two earned post-graduate degress: a MBA with empahsis in accounting and a Master of Divinity with emphasis in pastoral care.  A strategic thinker, Scott's focus is helping clients to set a strategy toward accomplishing their goals and objectives, avoiding pitfalls, and finding opportunities toward improving each client's living standard. 

Scott has recently placed a heavy emphasis on assisting clients and their families plan for and live gracefully and purposefully through the last trimester of life and to leave their unique legacy. He has attended educational sessions led by the University of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center on Aging and has the experience to deal with the ins and outs of getting older. He combines his deep understanding of financial issues and the developmental tasks of seniors in arriving at plans for living out a meaningful retirement. To be successful, Scott recognizes that each person's legacy must be unique to the individual and must look beyond money. 

Scott is a lifetime learner as well as a teacher.  His teaching experience at the college level serves clients and staff as they learn how to find better solutions to tough financial issues. 

Scott is also a community leader.  He has served on numerous boards of local charities and church. He has lectured frequently and is a regular contributor to M.D. Update.   He has been named 4 times to the Medical Economics' list of the Best Financial Advisors for Doctors.
