What is "Fee Only Financial Planning," and why is it important?
Vincent Schiavi, CFP®, CPA/PFS is the founder and President of Schiavi Dattani, formerly Schiavi Company, Delaware’s first fee-only financial planning firm. The firm was rated one of the top eight advisory firms in the Philadelphia area by Advisory HQ in 2016.
Worth Magazine selected Vincent several times as one of the top financial advisors in the country, including the original list of the top 60 in 1994. Mutual Funds Magazine recognized Vincent as one of the top 100 financial planners in the country in 2002.
In 2004, Vincent received the “Friend of the Delaware Investor Award” by the State of Delaware’s Department of Justice and Securities Division. In 2005, Vincent received the coveted Business and Economics Alumni Award of Excellence from the University of Delaware for career achievement, contribution to the business field, contributions to the community and commitment to excellence.
Prior to establishing the firm in 1983, Vincent was employed by Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst & Young) and Hewlett Packard.
Vincent is a Certified Financial Planner™ Practitioner, a Certified Public Accountant and a Personal Financial Specialist. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Delaware Society of CPA’s and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). Vincent was one of NAPFA’s original members. The organization is now considered by many commentators to be the premier organization of fee-only financial advisors in the country.
Vincent’s community service has included: the Financial Literacy Committee of the Delaware Society of CPAs; volunteer coach for various youth basketball and baseball teams; service on a local school advisory board; and chairing a school’s development and investment committees.
Vincent is a graduate of Salesianum High School and the University of Delaware, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with honors. Vincent is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Honor Society for Business and Management.
