Columbia Financial Planning
Fee only Advisor serving clients in the State of Washington
Davis has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, including stints at large regional banks. As a former vice president in corporate lending, she consulted with clients to help them efficiently finance their operations. As a financial adviser at American Express Financial Advisers, she developed the skills and knowledge to start her own business. After raising her two daughters, she launched her own business, Columbia Financial Planning, in 2006.
Davis has a different philosophy than most financial planners. She doesn’t believe in managing her clients’ investments and taking a percentage of their total portfolio as compensation. Furthermore, her philosophy is that all costs should be transparent.
Clients’ finances are often extremely complex, so she does a deep dive on financial plans that can take several months to create. She puts a large emphasis on asset allocation and encourages her clients to invest in low-cost index funds. It makes her day when her clients start to understand their finances better. “I can see the relief on their faces when they walk out the door, and that is extremely fulfilling.” She also takes special pride in helping widows and divorcees pick up the pieces financially.

Relax and enjoy life.
When clients come to Heidi Davis, CFP, they are often stressed out, anxious, and looking for hope. “They’re busy working and caring for their families, and they don’t have time to research the complexities of 401ks, IRAs, stock options, and college savings plans,” Davis says.
“Meanwhile, they’re concerned they haven’t saved enough money for retirement.” That’s when Davis, who earned her MBA from Northeastern University, teams up with her clients to brainstorm creative ideas based on state-of-the-art financial information. Working together as a team, they agree on goals that are doable and realistic. Once the financial plan is in place, the tension leaves her clients’ faces.
“They can finally relax and enjoy their lives,” she says. “They can take flight and soar.”
Davis believes that all costs should be transparent. Whether she is recommending investments, guiding you on how to sell stock options, or helping you cost effectively withdraw money in retirement, all costs will be clear from the start. You walk away with a clear mind, prepared for the next step in your life.
