What is "Fee Only Financial Planning," and why is it important?
Jake holds a Bachelor’s from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Agriculture and Consumer Economics and a Master’s from Kansas State University in Family Studies and Human Services. Both degrees focused on Financial Planning. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, IRS Enrolled Agent, and NAPFA Registered Financial Advisor.
Jake is passionate about bringing financial advice to young professional clients, who are often overlooked. As these clients’ professional and family lives become more complex, he works to simplify the financial part of their lives. This gives clients peace of mind and a clear track to meet their goals.
Jake is active in advancing Financial Planning as a profession. He currently serves on the Board of the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners and has served as Committee Chair for NAPFA Genesis (2012-2015), a national group of next generation advisors. He is regularly invited to speak in courses at the University of Illinois; has been quoted in various publications including the New York Times, Kiplinger and Consumers Reports; and has been a featured expert on local programming including AM 580 and WCIA’s Current.
On the personal side, Jake lives in Urbana with his wife Tara and their West Highland Terrier, Klaus. In his free time he loves to travel, dabbles in landscape and architecture photography, and keeps active by running regular Half-Marathons.
