What is "Fee Only Financial Planning," and why is it important?

In 1976, Norman founded our certified public accounting and financial planning firm with a well-rounded skill base. He takes pride in offering accounting, auditing, consulting, and tax services to clients with a keen emphasis on personal financial planning services (cash flow, education funding, retirement planning, investment management including wealth preservation). His client base includes retail automobile dealerships, construction, individuals, and government and nonprofit entities. Norman brings a strong professional commitment to clients for service that is:
  • Individualized
  • Objective
  • Tailored to meet clients' total needs
Norman's emphasis on integrated personal financial services has led to his active involvement as Chair and active member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants Personal Financial Planning Committee, functioning on the Advisor Committee to the Board of Directors of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants, and member of the National Association of Personal Financial Planners (NAPFA).

A native of the Olympia area, Norman graduated from North Thurston High School, the University of Puget Sound, and Golden Gate University. He holds a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in taxation. He became a CPA in 1971. His personal financial planning credentials include Certified Financial Planner (CFP) s granted by Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards and Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) as conferred by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a Registered Investment Advisor Representative. As such, he is subject to regulation by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Norman's career in public accounting began in 1969 when he joined the firm of Lybrand, Ross Brothers and Montgomery (now PriceWaterhouse Coopers). He transitioned to the Seattle firm of Peterson, Sullivan & Company where he focused on accounting, auditing, and management consulting.
