Anja Luesink is a New York, NY fee-only financial planner. Luesink Stenstrom Financial provides comprehensive financial planning, wealth management, and life planning to help clients organize, grow and protect their assets through life’s transitions. As a fee-only, fiduciary, and independent financial advisor, Anja Luesink is never paid a commission of any kind, and has a legal obligation to provide unbiased and trustworthy financial advice.
Anja Luesink is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, a Registered Life Planner ® and a Certified Financial Transitionist®. Prior to starting her own firm in 2008, she was a financial advisor at the firms L.J. Altfest & Associates and Francis Financial. In 2014, she partnered with Clare Stenstrom to form Luesink Stenstrom Financial.
As a Registered Life Planner® with the Kinder Institute of Life Planning Anja takes a holistic approach to financial planning and works to get a deeper understanding of her clients’ personal motivations, values and life goals. She also holds the Certified Financial Transitionist® designation from the Sudden Money Institute. This training provided her with the tools and skills to work with clients in emotional life-changing transitions, such as widowhood, divorce, loss of a job or the receipt of a financial windfall.
Anja is an active member of the Financial Planning community. She is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). In 2012, she received the prestigious Heart of Financial Planning award from the FPA NY Chapter and from the national FPA for her role in the community. Through the FPA, Anja provides Pro Bono financial planning for low-income New Yorkers. She served for two years as the Director of Pro Bono on the FPANY Board of Directors and as a Chair for the National FPA Pro Bono Committee. As part of her Pro Bono work, she currently teaches Financial Literacy to foster children and to domestic violence survivors. She also mentors younger planners, develops financial literacy curriculum, participates in the FPA International Group and is active in the FPA and NAPFA New York Community.
Anja has taught Retirement Planning at New York University (NYU) and often speaks to the public about budgeting, saving and investing, retirement planning, Social Security, Medicare and other financial topics. Together with Clare Stenstrom, she has taught a series of workshops especially for women, Women, Meaning and Money®.
Her financial advice has been quoted in Kiplinger, the Wall Street Journal, Financial Planning magazine, and Investment News, and her writing has been featured in the Journal of Financial Planning.
Anja received her MBA from Purdue University and Tilburg University in the Netherlands.
Before she entered the Financial Planning profession she worked in International Business Development. Anja is a seasoned traveler and fluent speaker of many languages. She lives in Riverdale with her husband and two cats. On the weekends and in the summer, she can often be found in her garden in Upstate New York.
