Anthony Reynolds is a Cedar Rapids, IA fee-only financial planner. Hello, my name is Anthony. Most people call me by my first name, except when I’m in uniform. Then it’s Captain Reynolds or just “Reynolds”.

That’s because when I’m not helping clients plan for their financial future as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, I hold a position as company commander in the Iowa National Guard.

At my core, I love helping people and I love planning. I coach individuals and families on how to devise a plan for their financial future and I feel pride in shaping the careers of young soldiers as a company commander (the most humbling experience you’ll ever have). If I’m not doing one of those things, you’ll find me geeking out by showing people how their new tech gadget can help improve their lives. I’m proud to say I’m a CFP®, a veteran and a lover of technology.

I was born in Massachusetts, did a short stint in North Carolina, traveled up to a tiny little town in southwest Wisconsin called Cassville, then transferred my senior year of high school to Dubuque Hempstead in Iowa.

In the spring of 2002, I decided to forego my first semester of college and enlisted in the Infantry of the Iowa National Guard. When I returned from basic and advanced individual training in Fort Benning, Georgia that November, I enrolled in college only to find out that our unit had been selected to deploy to the Sinai in Egypt. I was pulled out of college classes and at the ripe age of 19, I was relocated to Egypt to conduct a peace-keeping mission.

Our unit returned in early February of 2004 (yup, another semester of college foregone). No worries though, I was able to knock out some college credits while deployed. It took a lot of hard work and patience, but a little bit goes a long way, right?

I returned to my college journey at Kirkwood Community College in the fall of 2004 and juggled the military and my studies until our unit was chosen to deploy to Iraq and I had to leave again. We trained in Mississippi for six months before relocating to Iraq in March of 2006, where a 12-month deployment turned into one that lasted 22 months.

In the spring of 2008, I decided to take my GI Bill and earnings from the deployment and leave the Iowa National Guard (but not for long, continue reading). The goal was to focus on my studies.

I dual enrolled at Kirkwood and the University of Iowa for one year (to this day I still highly recommend dual enrollment if possible if you’re looking for an economical way to knock out some required coursework for a fraction of the cost) before attending the U of I full time.

But then it happened. I started to miss the camaraderie and leadership opportunities that the Iowa National Guard provided. In 2009, I contracted with the University of Iowa Army ROTC and was awarded a scholarship. In August of 2010, I graduated from the Tippie College of Business with a degree in finance, a minor in marketing, and I  was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Iowa National Guard as a quartermaster officer.

To date, I’ve worn many hats in the military, including platoon leader, executive officer, plans operations office and now I’ve accepted the challenge of wearing the hat of commanding officer.

I currently live in Cedar Rapids and spend more time than I’d like to admit perusing financial news and white papers, flying my drone, and reading the most recent book in my start-from-scratch-book-club. If you have a great book recommendation please e-mail me (

At the end of the day, I founded CoreTegic Capital to help young professionals and families understand their financial lives as well as position them to reach their fullest potential. But I’m also the guy next door. I do this job because I love it and truly enjoy taking on complex issues to help positively impact my clients and to help them navigate safely on their financial path.

Still reading? Great! Now that you know more about me, I would love to learn more about you and help you create a solid financial plan.

Remember how I said a little bit goes a long way? Start with an email to or contact me through this site. We’ll get you started down the right footpath to a smart financial plan through the laying of some groundwork, cutting-edge technology, and proper planning.
