Chad Smith is a Raleigh, NC fee-only financial planner. Financial Symmetry, Inc. provides comprehensive and objective financial planning to help clients organize, grow and protect their assets through life’s transitions. As a fee-only, fiduciary, and independent financial advisor, Chad Smith is never paid a commission of any kind, and has a legal obligation to provide unbiased and trustworthy financial advice.

Chad is a Partner and Lead Financial Advisor of Financial Symmetry, a leading financial advisory firm in the Triangle of North Carolina. Here he enjoys providing financial planning answers to those approaching retirement as well executives, health and tech professionals working for companies in the Research Triangle Park in the Raleigh-Durham area.

He is the co-host of the Financial Symmetry podcast and a member of NAPFA. In addition to his 17 years of experience, he’s been a contributor to Money Magazine and Nerdwallet and has been quoted and appeared in the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Bloomberg, Financial Planning Magazine, Triangle Business Journal and the News and Observer.

Chad is passionate about sharing the importance of financial education. Whether it’s speaking at his alma mater, the Cary Senior Center, or volunteering with NAPFA initiatives, he’s seen first hand how the power of financial literacy can change lives.

Personal

After growing up in western North Carolina, he graduated from NC State and made his permanent home in the Apex/Holly Springs area. Chad and his wife, Andriena, have two daughters, Presley and Emmie. They are members of Hope Community Church, where Chad serves and teaches with the Stewardship ministry team.

After getting engaged in the NC Mountains and getting married on a NC beach, Chad and his wife have spent more time traveling to new locations. Normally, this includes several trips a year to visit his wife’s family in Arizona. When he and his wife aren’t enjoying queso at local Mexican restaurants, you will likely find him at NC State sporting events or putting together puzzles with his young daughters.
