Meet Doug McCulley

While still in college, Douglas McCulley took his first step into the financial planning profession working in a small financial planning firm, doing much of the daily operations work and learning about the financial industry hands on. A few years later and newly married, he headed to work at USAA, a Fortune 100 company serving the financial needs of the military community. This is where Douglas began an eight-year career at as a wealth manager, serving its members more complicated needs and advising high-net-worth families across the country. USAA tapped Douglas to open one of its first face-to-face offices in the country, which was in Dallas.

It was after moving back home to the DFW area that he got his first glimpse of working for an registered investment advisory firm and felt with great conviction that working as a fiduciary was the best way to put client’s interest first, above all else. In 2012, Douglas began serving clients at JWA Financial Group, which joined forces with Buckingham Strategic Wealth in 2013.

Douglas greatly enjoys the long relationships he has had with clients since joining Buckingham and helping to improve their financial health. Surrounded by likeminded advisors in Dallas and the entire team at Buckingham, Douglas leverages Buckingham’s collaborative environment to stay educated, helping clients make better decisions.

He joined the firm in 2013. Douglas is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy and Certified Kingdom Advisor®. He holds a Financial Therapy Graduate Certificate from Kansas State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Arlington.

He and his wife have been married for more than 10 years. They have three children: two daughters and a son.
