Meet Eric Weiss

Eric J. Weiss is a Certified Financial Planner™ PROFESSIONAL and serves as Brightscape's Chief Investment Officer. Prior to founding the company he directed the business development activities of J. P. Morgan Chase's Global Asset Management and Private Bank Division in northern Latin America. Previously, Mr. Weiss was a senior executive at Citicorp's corporate finance group in New York and Latin America. Mr. Weiss earned his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago where he interned at the Center for Research in Security Prices (Chicago, IL) under the direction of Professor Myron Scholes, a Nobel Prize recipient for his work in option pricing. Prior to his studies at Chicago, Mr. Weiss earned an M.A. in economics from Columbia University where he wrote his thesis under the direction of Robert Mundell, also a Nobel Prize recipient for his work in international monetary economics.

Mr. Weiss holds the Certified Financial Planner designation, Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designation, a Series 65 investment advisor license, is a member of The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Miami.  Eric has been named one of "America's Top Financial Planners" by the Consumer's Research Council of America.

Mr. Weiss speaks to community groups on financial and investment issues. In his spare time, he enjoys running, tennis, gardening and college football.  Eric's recent book "Becoming Financially Literate: The Basics You Never Learned in High School" explains how the lack of financial education in many U.S. high schools leads adults to make incorrect financial decisions.
