Fee-Only Planner with offices in New Hampshire, Missouri, and California

Jay Hutchins is a fee-only financial planner located in Lebanon, NH. The Wealth Conservatory provides comprehensive and objective financial planning to help clients organize, grow and protect their assets through life’s transitions. As a fee-only, fiduciary, and independent financial advisor, Jay Hutchins is never paid a commission of any kind, and has a legal obligation to provide unbiased and trustworthy financial advice.
Jay Hutchins’s career began thirty-five years ago when he was recruited out of college by an insurance company. Within a few years he had joined the brokerage firm A.G. Edwards & Sons, where he studied and practiced all aspects of investing (including futures and options trading) and engaged in estate planning through the firm’s trust department. In 1995, Jay retired from the brokerage business to found a fee-only financial planning and wealth management firm now known as The Wealth Conservatory.
Accreditations: Jay holds the Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP) designation issued by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. He holds the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP) designation and has a Master of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. He also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst® (AIFA) professional designation, awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Studies, which is associated with the University of Pittsburgh.
Memberships: Jay is a National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA)-Registered Financial Advisor, and member of various professional associations including the New Hampshire Estate Planner’s Council. He fulfills his civic obligation as a Trustee of Trust Funds for the City of Lebanon and Chairman of the Board of Assessors. He has previously served as a Trustee of the City of Lebanon’s Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Fiscal Impact Fund, and Chairman of the Lebanon Board of Zoning and Adjustment. His social contributions have included memberships in the Board of Directors for the Lebanon Opera House, Board of Directors for Stepping Stones/Next-Step (local mental health agency), Treasurer for Upper Valley Youth Services, and Treasurer and Vice-President of the Lebanon Rotary Club.
Outside the Office: Jay is married to Jeanette, School Nurse for the White River School and Coordinator of Health Services for the Hartford School District. They have five grown children and three grandchildren. With their offspring scattered across the country and into Canada, Jay and Jeanette hardly find time for their golfing, skiing, hiking, and boating between flights to and visits from their pack.

The Art and Science of Finance
Whether one is managing finances (including but not limited to investments) at home or for an entity, there is a reasonable expectation that applicable principles and methodologies will be followed. These include acting within the law and adhering to regulations; controlling risks and expenses; performing due diligence over the purchase of financial and insurance products; avoiding conflicts of interest; monitoring progress and performance; and reporting to others. How many of us have the knowledge, skills, resources, and experience to meet this expectation?
The Wealth Conservatory educates and consults individuals and entities on excellence in stewarding finances for themselves, their families, trusts, foundations and charitable organizations. It is a weighty responsibility to be taken seriously, ethically, and competently. We are here to help.
