Focused Finances, LLC
Fee-Only financial planner located in Oakland, CA, serving clients locally and across the country
Patricia Jennerjohn opened her firm, Focused Finances, a sole proprietorship, in 1994, and transitioned it to Focused Finances, LLC, in 2004. Her objective is to help individuals and couples with their financial planning and investment needs. Using the tools of financial planning, she helps clients gain "financial confidence" by seeing how money is here to support and serve them. Pat's advice and insight have been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Oakland Tribune, the Huffington Post, and the Wall Street Journal, among others. She is also a regular contributor at Nerd Wallet and for the quarterly "Jump Start" financial chats sponsored by NAPFA and Kiplinger magazine.
Pat is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), which is the professional association for fee-only financial planners. A Certified Financial Planner™ certificant, Pat also earned her MBA in Finance from California State University, Hayward.
Pat is also an avid musician, specializing in choral singing; she performs with the San Francisco Bay Area Chamber Choir, the California Bach Society, Schola SF, and any other group she can find time for. She considers music to be one of her most important tools for a balanced life.

The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is the country’s leading professional association of Fee-Only financial advisors - highly trained professionals who are committed to working in the best interests of those they serve.
NAPFA members live by three important values:
- To be the beacon for independent, objective financial advice for individuals and families.
- To be the champion of financial services delivered in the public interest.
- To be the standard bearer for the emerging profession of financial planning
Most people believe that they must work hard for their money. However, the truth is that money is also here to work hard for you! Using the tools of financial planning, I help my clients learn that money is here to support and serve them - which leads to a feeling I like to call "financial confidence."
You’re smart, educated, aware, savvy. Sure, you could do your own financial plan, and maybe even manage your investments. BUT is this the best use of your smarts and your time? Do you think that, because you’re smart, you SHOULD do these things, even if you don’t find these tasks particularly interesting or fun? Or, a bit overwhelming?
You want it done well, but you don’t want to do it yourself. You appreciate the expertise that goes into doing things well, but don’t want to be the expert. You don’t have more money than you know what to do with, but you want to know what to do with what you have!
What do you really want to accomplish? That can be hard to figure out on your own – could it be more enlightening to explore your aspirations with a knowledgeable partner that will help you think creatively about those aspirations?
You realize that plain vanilla financial planning, or using online apps, will not do justice to the unique character of your particular situation. Perhaps you should consider walking that path together with a friendly expert.
Would you like to work with a partner who takes you seriously (yet, with a relaxed approach), collaborates with you (rather than issuing a predesigned set of recommendations), will work to understand what is really important to you, and helps keep you focused on REAL goals (making your plan work, not beating the market)?
