At Valeo, we focus on a client’s entire financial picture including insurance, taxes, cash flow, educational funding, retirement, and estate planning. As fee-only fiduciaries, we provide our services for one transparent annual fee. - Philip Wallin, CFP®, CPA, PFS
PJ is a Fee-Only financial planner and fiduciary advisor focused on assisting clients in Richmond, VA and across the country with a focus on tax planning and access to direct private real estate investing for accredited investors.
Philip Wallin is a Richmond, VA fee-only financial planner. Valeo Financial Advisors provides comprehensive financial planning, tax planning and estate planning to help clients organize, grow and protect their assets through life’s transitions. As a fee-only, fiduciary, and independent financial advisor, Philip Wallin is never paid a commission of any kind, and has a legal obligation to provide unbiased and trustworthy financial advice.
PJ Wallin is a Certified Public Accountant, Personal Financial Specialist™, and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. He launched Atlas Financial (now a part of Valeo Financial Advisors) to enhance and streamline the financial lives of successful individuals, families, and business owners. Atlas Financial merged into Valeo Financial Advisors as of April 2020.
All-in-one advisors are the future of the wealth planning industry. Simplifying the process by eliminating multiple agents — a CPA, insurance advisor, investment advisor, financial planner, etc. — makes managing your finances easier, clearer and more effective.
PJ's dual tax and financial planning certifications and experience allows him to bridge the gap most advisors face when it comes to investments and taxes. He is the resident expert on complex tax and retirement planning strategies in the Richmond office.
Working with people to help them define and achieve their goals brings PJ the greatest professional satisfaction. Whether assisting a young lawyer starting his career or advising a seasoned business owner selling his business, PJ is proud to call himself a fee-only financial advisor, providing independent, unbiased assistance in the areas of financial planning, investments, and taxes.
PJ received his Master of Accounting and BS in Business Administration as an out-of-state entrant to the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As an undergraduate, PJ balanced his busy class schedule with his roles as a member of the Varsity Men’s Swim Team and Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
While in the pool, PJ met the love of his life, Whitney, a Richmond, Virginia native. Originally from East Grand Rapids, Michigan, PJ cherishes his summer and holiday visits home to see family. PJ, his wife, and their three young children reside in Richmond’s West End.

Investments are an important part of what we do for our clients, but financial advice is far more than just investments. At Valeo, we focus on a client’s entire financial picture including insurance, taxes, cash flow, educational funding, retirement, and estate planning. As a result, we strive to provide peace of mind that can only come from knowing all aspects of your financial life are working well together.
We founded Valeo to change the way clients consume, and advisors deliver, financial advice by:
- Developing a single transparent fee schedule to eliminate as many conflicts of interest as possible.
- Limiting the number of clients each advisor works with to improve the client experience.
- Providing a comprehensive advisory service to all clients at all times, rather than investment advice with planning from time to time.
- Designing a well-defined career path for young advisors interested in becoming financial professionals instead of product salespeople.
