Fee-Only financial planner located in Folsom, California, serving clients virtually all across the country

Rachael Burns is a Folsom, CA fee-only financial planner. True Worth Financial Planning provides comprehensive financial planning and investment management to help women organize, grow and protect their finances through life transitions like divorce or death of a spouse. As a fee-only, fiduciary, and independent financial advisor, Rachael Burns is never paid a commission of any kind, and has a legal obligation to provide unbiased and trustworthy financial advice.

I’m Rachael Burns, and I help newly single women achieve financial independence after the loss of their partner to death or divorce.

Through my own personal experiences navigating grief and finances, I found my calling — to support and empower other women during the most challenging transitions of their lives.

I volunteer with Family Reach, providing pro bono financial planning to families affected by cancer. I also donate my time mentoring and coaching financial planning students at my alma mater, Sacramento State.

In my downtime, I enjoy trying out new Pinterest recipes, exploring local wine country, and chasing after my twin toddler boys.

Rachael Burns is a Member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors

The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is a leading professional association of Fee-Only financial advisors - highly trained professionals who are committed to working in the best interests of those they serve.

NAPFA members live by three important values:

  • To be the beacon for independent, objective financial advice for individuals and families.
  • To be the champion of financial services delivered in the public interest.
  • To be the standard bearer for the emerging profession of financial planning.

True Worth Financial Planning offers customized financial planning and investment management, tailored to the unique needs and goals of divorcees and widows.

I founded True Worth after spending 12 years working for some of the most prestigious wealth managers (Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch), advising hundreds of high-net worth families. I learned the lessons, habits, and values that led these families to their wealth, and I was eager to share these insights with other women like myself. However, the companies I worked for set six-figure account minimums, which essentially excluded anyone who hadn't already achieved financial success.

I came across so many women in the earlier stages of their financial journeys, who desperately needed help but didn't qualify for it. Many of them were newly single and managing their own finances for the first time after a divorce or death of a spouse. My mission was to make expert financial advice accessible to women when they need it most, which led me to found True Worth Financial Planning.

My Core Values

  • Empathy– I offer a safe, comfortable space to talk about money with no judgement or shaming.
  • Empowerment– You have all the tools you need to be successful. I’m here to teach you how to use them.
  • Integrity– As a fee-only planner, I do not receive commissions or other incentives to recommend any particular products or solutions.
  • Transparency– Fees are explicitly stated on the Menu of Services. Any adjustments for complexity will be discussed before you sign up.
  • Accessibility– There are no minimums to work with me. I can meet virtually with you wherever you are.
