Richard "Skip" Fleming is the founder of Lodestar Financial Planning, a financial planning practice providing hourly, as-needed financial planning and advice in Colorado.
Skip provides financial advice and coaching to individuals and their families. He specializes in serving those who serve; Military professionals, both active and retired, Federal, State, and Local Government Employees. In addition, Skip has a passion for working with families of special needs children. He does not set minimum income or net worth requirements to engage in financial planning, investment consultation, or portfolio review services.
Skip is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. He has been in the financial services industry since 2002, following a 24-year career in the United States Marine Corps, where he was privileged to serve in various leadership positions.
As an Advisor, Skip is committed to guiding his clients to pursue their financial goals by bringing sound financial knowledge and trustworthy advice to each individual and family he serves. His areas of focus include:

The father of a special needs daughter, Skip volunteers as a ski instructor with the National Sports Center for the Disabled and as a coach with Colorado Special Olympics. Understanding the concerns of families with special needs and the importance of coaching, he applies that understanding by guiding his clients toward productive, lifelong financial habits.
Skip is a member of the Pikes Peak Detachment of the Marine Corps League, the Military Officers Association of America. He served on the Board of Early Connections Learning Centers. Skip is also a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America and a past president of the Financial Planning Association of Southern Colorado. In addition, he volunteers with Colorado Springs Junior Achievement and the Special Olympics.
Married for over 41 years with two children and twin grandsons, Skip enjoys spending time with his family in the beautiful mountains of Colorado; skiing, biking, hiking, whitewater rafting, and fishing.

We provide hourly, as needed financial planning and advice to our clients here in Colorado and several other states.
We do not sell investment or insurance products, nor do we receive commissions or any compensation from third parties. The only income we receive is from our clients for the specific advice they have requested.
Unlike most other fee-only firms, we also don't require you to have investment account under our management. Nor do we require a certain amount of assets for planning or investment advice. That's right; we don't manage assets, but we do provide investment advice within a financial planning context.
We are fee-only and simply charge for our time. We tailor our services to the needs of our clients. We do not impose a minimum fee for our advice.
Our services are accessible to people just starting on their financial journey, growing families, pre-retirees, do-it-yourselfers, and anyone in need of a one-time review, second opinion, periodic advice, or ongoing financial coaching.
