Steven S. Erickson, JD, MBA, CFP®, NAPFA-RFA, CRM, AWMA, CRPC
Steve Erickson is founder of Erickson Financial Solutions, LLC, an independent, fee-only (commission-free) financial advisory firm with offices in Columbia and Jefferson City, Missouri. While Steve has long held an interest in investing, it was his desire to provide professional, objective advice as a fiduciary that efficiently integrates the client’s entire situation that motivated him to establish his own firm.
Steve served in the military for eleven years, many of those years as a helicopter instructor pilot, after graduating from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC, with a BA in Psychology. Later as an Assistant Professor at Washington University, St. Louis, MO, Steve attended Webster University, St. Louis, MO, where he earned two Master’s Degrees – one an MBA and the second in Computer Resource Management. Setting his sights even higher, Steve then attended law school at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Columbia, MO, earning his Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Immediately after becoming a licensed attorney, Steve was recruited to join a leading financial services firm.
Having been a part of the financial services industry for more than twenty-two years, Steve can say that he’s always loved helping families achieve their financial goals. In his early years, he learned that he dislikes selling products (and that people don’t like to “be sold”). Consequently, he moved to a completely conflict-free, advice-oriented business model. As an independent advisor, he now provides objective advice, comprehensive financial planning services, and portfolio management on a fee-only basis.
Steve holds the CFP® mark of distinction and the Accredited Wealth Management Advisor and Chartered Retirement Planning Consultant credentials from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, CO. He is particularly proud to be a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor. Steve’s firm is a Registered Investment Advisor in Missouri which means he is legally required and ethically obligated to serve as a fiduciary to his clients. Even though he is a non-practicing attorney, Steve’s legal training brings an in-depth understanding of complex estate planning.
Steve volunteers in Jefferson City through Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce. Steve’s wife is an attorney for the State Missouri. They have two wonderful sons. Steve enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family. Steve also loves to golf and has a passion for playing competitive bridge.

With the help of several diverse, but important, professional experts, we’ll provide a seamless holistic plan of action to support and help you achieve your goals. We are dedicated to providing objective, unbiased advice as a fiduciary that removes the clouds and helps you see the big picture of your entire financial situation.
Areas of expertise include:
Holistic Financial Planning
Cash Flow Management
While we focus on providing holistic financial planning services, investment planning and management is a specialty of ours. Our allocation and selection of investments is based upon growth and stability that is dictated by the goals and resources of the client. Theories are nice, but what gives you peace of mind in your quest to achieve your goals is more important. Ultimately, you must make the decision and commit to a long-term program of investing, and we are here to help guide or doirect you through that process.
We feel an obligation to explore and explain the pros and cons of investment alternatives and the potential consequences of mixing and matching investments. We provide context to and explanation of what an investment can or can not do. Our bias is to use equity investments until the client is comfortable that growth is no longer an issue, or the client is uncomfortable with the investment type. The reality is, however, that for most Americans growth will be needed throughout retirement.
Of course, any plan must be tempered with your investment tolerance and ability to stay the course. A reasonable plan, well executed, is far superior to a superb plan, poorly executed. When you’re ready to hear the voice of reason, think Erickson Financial Solutions. We're here ready to help you move with confidence toward your goals.
